平成25年、私たちは名古屋英語ディベートサークルを発足し、ディベートがもたらすロジカルな
コミュニケーションの技術をすべての参加者に届けることを目指しました。それがきっかけとなって
参加したディベータたちによる活動は、英語学習の効率を変え続けています。そうした各種の
活動と、ディベートが与える深く大きな影響を、ここでは紹介します。 In 2013, we founded Nagoya English Debating Circle with the aim to put the
legitimate communication techniques of debate in every member's speech.
It involved activities of debaters who continue to grow in efficiency of English learning.
We show a variety of those activities and the profound impact debate makes here.

場所は、名古屋に数ある公共の施設の中から、夜景が綺麗で安く使わせていただける芸術創造センターをメインに、ディベートの仲間と一緒に活動しています。

名古屋の交通の要所新栄町駅・高丘駅から徒歩で来れるので、参加者は基本的に電車で来る人が多いです。車、バイク、自転車でもOKです。公開されているスケジュールを確認すると、予定が合わせやすいです。

土曜日の夜は、名古屋では英語ディベートです。このサークルでは英語の資料を使って、スピーチのネタを考えていきます。ネイティブ・スピーカの表現の使い方なども勉強しています。サンプル論題のスピーチの原稿も用意してあります。また、ディベートの後も反省会を行っています。ディベートでのスピーチに必要な基本的な知識や、考え方、テクニックなどを話し合っています。

必要な英語力 Required English ability	最低必要条件 Minimum English requirements 高校卒業程度 High-school level 当サークルに参加するには、高校卒業程度の英語力が必要です。なお、参加者の中にはCNNやBBCなどのニュースが理解できる英語力の方が多いですが、高校までで習う英語がしっかりと身についていれば問題ありません。また、英語力の向上を図るため18時から19時まで英語学習(主に英語の資料による音読)を行います。 To join our activity, you need at least Japanese high-school equivalent English ability. Actually our circle has many participants who can understand English news programme such as CNN, or BBC. However if you meet the minimum English requirements above, you can communicate with us. You can also get in on English learning(mostly oral reading of English documents) for improving our English ability from 18 o'clock to 19 o'clock.

私たち名古屋英語ディベートサークルの活動をひとことで言ってしまうと「英語で審判を説得すること」です。でも、ひとりの人を説得させるまでには、本当にたくさんの準備と英語力が必要になります。

このサークルでは「そもそも、ディベートってなに?」という基本的な確認からはじまり、実際のゲームのワークフローに沿ってさまざまな英語表現や知識への理解を深めていきます。

ただし、英語の知識をまったくお持ちでない方へ向けられたサークルではありませんから、中学英語の初歩的な解説などは行っていません。すでに基本的な英語の表現は理解している方に役立つネイティブ表現を重視して、誤解の起こりにくいスピーチの進め方、つまずきやすい英語学習のポイント、社会人の必須スキルともいえる英語での会議やプレゼンテーションに対応した表現などを中心に当日の論題の資料やThe Economistの記事等で音読を行っています。

これはどうしてかというと、音読をスポーツに例えると素振りのようなものだからなんです。なのでディベートをするにあたって、音読をするのは、まさに試合前に素振りをするようなものです。もちろんひとりで音読するのもいいんですけど、英語好きな仲間と同じ目的を持った人同士モチベーションを維持するために音読活動を行っています。

私たちが一つの完全な英語表現をつくる手助けを、英語表現道場はしてくれます。この英語表現には、ネイティブ表現をはじめ、その中にあるすべてのものが、参加者たちの実際の学び方を中心に考えられています。 English Expression Dōjō has helped us create a complete English expression which the native speakers' one itself, and everything contained within it, is centred round how participants actually learn.
